Babatunde Fashola, governor of Lagos State, speaking today at the Nigerian Hospitality Security Workshop and Awards, themed, ‘Security Challenges in the Hotel and Hospital Industry- the Way Forward,’ called on all stakeholders in the country’s hospitality business to prioritize security. Fashola who was represented by Babatunde Pannox, Special Advisor to the governor on Security Matters, at the workshop organised by Nigerian Hospitality Security Network, NIHOSSEN, with support from the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, said, “we are currently facing security challenges in the country, we all must plan for the worst as we hope for the best. This a call for all stake holders in the tourism and hospitality business, owners of hotels, to prioritise security, just we have told you in previous seminars and workshops.”
The governor also called on the security agencies to provide ‘blanket security for all citizens and foreigners’. “There must be blanket security for everyone. It should not be because the governor is going somewhere then you all mobilize. That is eye service. No eye service.” Fashola said. He added that the security agencies in Lagos have no excuse for not performing as the state government has provided them with equipment.
“Security agencies have no excuse not to perform in Lagos as the state government has provided all equipment they need. We have given the police more than 900 patrol vehicles and over 250 motor bikes,” enthuses Fashola. He called on the citizens to also be vigilant and help the police serve them better.
