Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially parted ways with South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United following a mutual termination of his contract, bringing an emotional end to a four-year journey that established him as one of Nigeria’s most dependable goalkeepers.

The 29-year-old announced his departure in a heartfelt video message shared on social media on Thursday, describing his time at the club as “more than a family.”

“To my lovely teammates, dear coaches, amazing fans and great chairman… as I stand here to say farewell, a part of me will always remain with this club. I wish you success and happiness in the seasons ahead,” Nwabali said.

Chippa United later confirmed the development in an official statement, revealing that the goalkeeper had formally submitted a transfer request, which the club approved after careful consideration—despite his three-year contract extension signed in 2024.

“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. The club appreciates his years of service, commitment, and professionalism and wishes him success in the next chapter of his career,” the statement read.

Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and went on to make over 76 appearances, recording 25 clean sheets. His consistent performances in the South African topflight played a key role in earning him the Super Eagles’ first-choice goalkeeper position, further boosting his profile on the continental stage.

His departure has fueled intense speculation about his next destination, with past interest from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and potential opportunities in Europe widely discussed. With the January transfer window now closed, Nwabali is officially a free agent, leaving fans eager to see where his next chapter will unfold.

The announcement triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans, teammates, and Nigerian football supporters, many praising his professionalism and wishing him success as he pursues new challenges.

As one of Nigeria’s most in-form goalkeepers in recent years, Nwabali’s next move is expected to attract significant attention across Africa and beyond.
