The Unites States has expressed readiness to support the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s President-elect, in all issues of common concern.
Joe Biden, US Vice President, disclosed this in a telephone conversation with Buhari. Biden congratulated the President-elect and Nigerians in general, noting that the United States is willing to expand collaboration with Nigeria in economic and security matters.
He added that the US would not only help strengthen Nigeria’s economy, it would also assist in the efforts to wipe out Boko Haram, the country’s terrorist group.
Biden, who spoke with Buhari to congratulate him on his victory in the recently held presidential election affirmed that the United States is prepared to help the country recover hostages held by the group, and protect civilian populations.
The Vice President commended Buhari for his leadership in helping to ensure the elections were conducted peacefully.
He urged the President-elect to continue to foster a smooth, inclusive, and peaceful transition with Goodluck Jonathan, the incumbent President.Follow Us on Social Media
