Nigerian football star Wilfred Ndidi has finally revealed the truth behind one of Leicester City’s funniest dressing room mysteries, after former teammate Jamie Vardy jokingly claimed that Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho used a “juju cream” from a Nigerian witch doctor to recover from injuries.

The viral story resurfaced after Vardy recalled how the Nigerian duo would mysteriously return from trips home with a special cream that was only allowed to be applied by the club’s masseuse.

According to Vardy, the pair would suffer minor knocks, travel back to Nigeria briefly, and return with a “big tub” of the mysterious substance.

“They used to get injured. Little knocks, then go back to Nigeria for just one day. They come back with a nice big tub of juju cream,” Vardy said in a recent interview.

“That was the only thing that the masseuse was allowed to apply to the injured area. They used to tell us that it had come from a Nigerian witch doctor.”

However, Ndidi has now revealed that there was no supernatural secret behind the treatment — it was simply ori, the traditional Nigerian name for natural shea butter.

Reacting to Vardy’s comments on social media, the Super Eagles midfielder laughed as he explained how the joke started.

“It’s ori (natural shea butter), and anytime we came back, he would ask, and we’d say, ‘Oh! It’s from a witch doctor in Nigeria,’” Ndidi said with a smile.

The revelation has sparked huge reactions among Nigerian football fans, many of whom praised Ndidi and Iheanacho for keeping the prank alive for years and successfully convincing their Leicester teammates that the cream was something mysterious.

Shea butter, a natural product widely used across West Africa for skincare and traditional remedies, has long been part of everyday life in many Nigerian households. What Vardy believed was a magical injury cure was simply a familiar cultural product wrapped in a bit of football banter.
