The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has commenced the screening of 308 aspirants gunning for the state’s House of Assembly.
The exercise will be held between November 11 and 13, ahead of the party’s primaries into the 40 seats in the House.
Based on the figures obtained by the magazine from the party’s state secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos, today, 44 of the aspirants are women, while 264 are men.
A breakdown of the figure shows that, 119 of the aspirants are for Lagos West senatorial district while, 77 and 68 of the contestants came from the Lagos East and Central senatorial districts respectively.
The magazine gathered reliably that the aspirants are screened based on the individual’s biometric data, political experience and contribution of the contestants to the party, and accomplishment.
Abiodun Salami, assistant state publicity Secretary of the party said the aspirants were shared into three groups for the purpose of ensuring that “only qualified and responsible people are allowed to contest at the primaries on Saturday.”
He however said there is a provision for appeal through the party’s secretariat by anyone who might feel ill-treated during the screening process.
