The Foundation for African Culture Heritage, FACH, a non-governmental organisation has condemned the alleged move by the United Nations Population Funds, UNFPA and government authorities to carry out abortion operation on the rescued pregnant victims of Boko Haram and Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in the North-East.
The group said it has it on authority that the UNFPA was offering the pregnant girls and women abortion and sterilization with their reproductive kits.
Addressing a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, FACH also said it was informed by sources in the IDPs camps in Yola, Adamawa State that the over 43 “pregnant girls and women had been moved to unknown location by the government in collaboration with UNFPA where reproductive health services and reproductive health kits are being given to them.”
FACH explained that reproductive health service is a dodgy phrase used by the UNFPA to promote abortion and contraceptives worldwide.
Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director of UNFPA announced on May 31, 2015 that the UNFPA had budgeted $75 million to boost reproductive health services.
“FACH, Uduimo Itsueli foundation, UIF and Fertility Care Centre of Africa, FCCAF unequivocally condemn the offering of abortion and contraceptives to the rescued pregnant victims of Boko Haram and IDPs by the UNFPA because it would compound the woes of those girls and IDPs.
“An imperative is that these victims are not given the option of keeping their babies. In other words, the presumed assistance would only achieve a major aim of reduction of human capital. This is sad, very sad indeed!” Nkechi Asogwa, FACH Director and Medical Doctor said in the statement issued at the conference.
