Amaju Pinnick, the newly elected president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has urged the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women football team, to triumph at the African Women Championship, AWC, which kicks off in Namibia on Saturday, October 11, 2014.
While urging the girls to conquer Africa, Pinnick assured them of the country’s readiness to honour them if they lift the trophy.
“This is the dawn of a new beginning so I urge you girls to go to Namibia and conquer Africa, I want you girls to go and do this country proud. President Goodluck Jonathan has done so well in sports in this country so we must reward his transformation agenda in sports by winning this trophy. I want to, proudly as the NFF President, lead you guys to the Presidential lounge where you will be honoured and accorded your pride of place after winning the trophy,” Pinnick said.
Pinnick, who admonished the girls to make success their watchword, assured them of government’s readiness to provide the necessary encouragements that would make the outing a worthwhile experience for them.
“But please make sure that you think success when you are playing, think Nigeria and whatever you need will be given to you,” he added.
Meanwhile, the team arrived Namibia on Thursday morning ahead of their Group A opening clash with Ivory Coast on Saturday, October 11.
