Scores Die in Pakistan Bus Crash

Not less than 30 people have died in a bus crash near the Pakistani city of Karachi in the early hours of Sunday.

Police said, the bus collided with an oil tanker. The tanker was reportedly speeding and traveling on the wrong side of the road when it hit the bus head-on. Both vehicles burst into flames.

Some passengers traveling on the roof of the bus were able to jump to safety but many of those inside were trapped.

The driver of the tanker is said to have fled the scene after the incident.

Pakistan has an alarming record of fatal traffic accidents due to poor roads, badly-maintained vehicles and reckless driving.

It was the second major fatal crash in Sindh province in less than three months.
